Date(s) - 03/01/2015
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Led by Harold/Sanki Schlechtweg
Where:
Zendō in the Fairmount UCC Education Bldg
When: Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm
After introductions, we will have about half an hour of sitting meditation focused on the breath and relaxation (instructions will be given). This is non-religious, breath-focused meditation. Cushions, benches, and chairs will be provided.
Harold/Sanki will give some guidance at the beginning as to posture, breath, and techniques for relaxation and focus. We will plan for at least a half hour of “quiet time.” Folks who wish to practice a different form of meditation – for example, zazen (objectless) or shamatha/vipashyana – are welcome.
This will be non-religious – Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists of all stripes are welcome. However, it does take place in a Zen Buddhist practice center, which includes statues of the Buddha, an altar, and other symbols and ritual objects. No chanting or bowing is required – unless you want to bow, in which case, bow away! We will end with conversation, tea, and cookies.
No donation required, no donation refused.
